And the blue half of Manchester scores a vital win over their red neighbors
Manchester City earned a vital and well-deserved 1-0 win over Manchester United. Manchester United came out with their typical away European formation the 4-5-1. However, unlike in past seasons United hasn’t had much success in Europe, being knocked out in the Champions League group stage and getting knocked in the last 16 in the Europa League.
Just like their failures in Europe, their 4-5-1 led them to being outplayed throughout the match and by not starting Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia they suffered from a severe lack of pace. With this lack of pace City was able to use their fullbacks to overlap and ping in crosses from out wide which enabled them to space out the United defense.
Even with City’s overall domination throughout the match, United didn’t have a shot on goal, City’s only goal came from header by Vincent Kompany on a corner at the stroke of halftime.
This victory has now made Man City the title favorites with two games to go.
And Racism Persists in Football

UEFA have responded to Manchester City‘s claims that two of their players were racially abused during the Europa League match at Porto by opening disciplinary proceedings against the Portuguese club.
City lodged a written complaint with European football‘s governing body after their 2-1 victory at the Estadio Dragao last week.
There were suspected outbreaks of monkey chanting aimed at Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure during last Thursday’s match. It appeared most noticeable when Balotelli was substituted 12 minutes from the end.
UEFA announced in a statement: “Following a complaint lodged by Manchester City FC, UEFA has today opened disciplinary proceedings against FC Porto for the improper conduct of supporters (article 11 bis of the UEFA disciplinary regulations) during their UEFA Europa League round of 32 first-leg match against Manchester City FC last week.
“The UEFA control and disciplinary body will deal with the case on March 29.”
